The Hidden Reality: When the Sun Sets, Life Pauses
In most rural areas, when the sun sets, so does life. In India, millions of households continue to languish without reliable or affordable light. Even with national electrification efforts, the ground reality in most villages, tribal hamlets, and remote settlements is harsh:
As of the 2011 Census, only roughly 55% of rural homes used electricity as their primary source of
light, with a large majority depending on other sources.
Illuminating Every Home, Protecting Every Life
For us at GKF Agroforestry, clean lighting is not merely a luxury but a fundamental human right and dignity
enabling technology.
Our LED/Solar Light Initiative is set to:
Map off-grid and underserved households in tribal, rural, and forest-border areas
Provide low-emission LED and solar light kits to provide safety, study, and sustainability
Allow families to move away from kerosene and expensive substitutes
Incorporate lighting distribution into carbon credit initiatives, earning sustainable income while
lowering emissions
Long-Term Impact Goals
Serve 10,000+ homes in our first phase
Lower carbon emissions through clean energy substitutes
Give safe evenings to the children, women, and elders
Promote India’s Sustainable Development Goals, notably SDG-7 (Clean Energy for All)
