Safe Drinking Water – A Human Right, Not a Privilege

What is Safe Drinking Water?

Safe drinking water is water which is pure, transparent, and free from poisonous chemicals that might pose harm to human health. It must not harbor any pathogenic microorganisms, poisonous chemicals, or physical contaminants. For the World Health Organization (WHO), safe water is the type that carries no appreciable health hazard in a lifetime of consumption. Simply put, it is water which is safe for consumption and cooking without inducing disease.

Clean water must be available, affordable, within reach at home or around the corner, and free of contaminants. Sadly, for millions, this remains a distant dream.

GKF Agroforestry Action and Commitment Plan

At GKF Agroforestry Pvt. Ltd., we feel that safe drinking water is not a luxury, but a right. We have witnessed the agony inflicted by unsafe drinking water, and we are committed to making a difference—step by step, village by village.

We are initiating Safe Drinking Water Projects in the worst-hit areas of India. These projects will offer clean and low-cost water through sustainable means that will also help cut carbon emissions. Our strategy is to identify high-risk zones, deploy low-carbon purification units, and make communities aware of safe handling and storage of water.

We are also studying carbon credit arrangements to fund long-term sustainability for these programs. By substituting firewood-boiling practices with clean water systems, we are able to combat indoor air pollution and build a healthier environment.
